International Student Visits, Study Tours and Student Exchange

Å·ÃÀAV Grammar has a long and celebrated International Program that our students have enjoyed for over three decades. The primary aim of our International Program is the support of our students’ development of the target language, French or Japanese, and the celebration of these countries through the education and cultural awareness of all students involved.

Through our Sister School relationships, Å·ÃÀAV Grammar students have been presented with wonderful opportunities to bring language skills to life through cultural and linguistic immersions in France or Japan over the Australian summer holiday period. Students from our Sister Schools visit us in a similar fashion during their summer holiday period, which coincides with our Australian winter. During these visits, students attend school just like any other student at the Sister School and participate in additional activities that promote their language skills and their integration into the local culture of their host country.

Further opportunities are available through biennial two-week Study Tours that provide a combination of student attendance at our Sister Schools in France or Japan alongside educational touring throughout the region. Study Tours usually run for around 2 weeks and allow students to discover their host country as part of a group accompanied by school staff. Study Tours attached to other areas of the curriculum have previously been undertaken to destinations such as Vietnam, Russia and Tuscany.

The annual visits from our Sister Schools are a highlight of our School year and benefit not only the many students involved, but also the international connections of the broader Å·ÃÀAV Grammar community through deepening cultural understanding and connections. Through our International Program we have welcomed countless students from France and Japan, eager to experience life and learning in an Australian school. Needless to say, staying in our beautiful region of Å·ÃÀAV presents these students with many authentically Aussie experiences during their stay.

Over the years we have also offered our students and those at our Sister Schools the opportunity to participate in long-term exchange. These exchanges have offered an immersive cultural and language experience like no other and provide our students the opportunity to undertake their Australian school year at our Sister School in France or Japan while we welcome a Sister School student to Å·ÃÀAV Grammar for the year.

Our International Program has enriched our School throughout the past three decades, and the experiences it provides are remembered by many of our Old Scholars and past families with lasting affection. The connections we have with our Sister Schools are nurtured by our dedicated staff and passionate students of French and Japanese language and we look forward to celebrating these relationships for many more years to come.
