As we conclude Å·ÃÀAV 1, we reflect on a successful start to the school year. Our Foundation students have settled in wonderfully, confidently navigating their way around the school. Their little personalities have brought sunshine to our campus, especially during our Cross-Country House Carnival. Their determination and enthusiasm to complete the oval circuit had us all cheering enthusiastically, making it a memorable event for everyone.
We also enjoyed our first musical soiree of the year at St. John's Church. Our students performed with confidence, supported closely by their instrumental teachers. Seeing so many students taking up instruments or vocals and contributing to our thriving music program is heartening. With our production of 'Finding Nemo’ fast approaching in Å·ÃÀAV 2, our music program continues to expand, encompassing various art forms such as dance, drama, and visual arts. This holistic approach fosters critical and creative thinking, contributing to a well-rounded education.
Harmony Week was a significant highlight, allowing our students to delve deeper into understanding cultural diversity, the importance of inclusivity, and our collective role in combating racism. It was magnificent to see the pride in our students as they shared their heritage, showcasing our beautifully diverse community that we celebrate and appreciate fully.
Our tradition of moving our weekly fellowship to the Abbey at Raymond Island to learn more about the Easter story was once again a lovely gathering. The day included walking the boardwalk together, engaging in games, a prayer service on the beach, and a rotation of activities that involved listening, learning, and sharing our thoughts. At the end of the day, each student collected a stone painted by Garnsey students with words of joy, love, hope, sharing, and faith to take home and reflect on their learnings. It was a special day that brought us all closer together.
We are also proud to announce that several of our students have achieved excellence in various sporting events within the local community. Their dedication and hard work have brought them personal success and made our campus proud. We hope they continue to enjoy the benefits of sport and its positive impact on their lives.
With the end of the summer sport season upon us, we have heard of many successes, and congratulate our students on their participation. Henry and Eadie Liston represented our campus at interschool tennis in Stratford last week. In basketball news, Logan Dick has been selected in the 2025 Basketball Victoria Future Development Program. A big congratulations everyone who participated summer sports.
As we head into the Easter break, I wish all our families a joyous Easter and a time to relax and recharge. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our campus community.
